THE TUBKAAK BOUTIQUE RESORT

Krabi
Thailand
2002

In one of the most prime natural resources in Krabi, The TubKaak Boutique Resort is uniquely located on a site facing a marvelous beachfront with islands lining up in the distance. The stunning surrounding is also abundant with natural resources. For example, the rear part of the resort site is adjacent to a national park. The mountain provides great benefit to the site and is a source of a natural creek that flows through the resort. With this unique condition, the entire site is covered and crowed with mature plants and healthy trees. The beach is also lavish with a natural stream flowing through the valley.

MASTER PLAN CONCEPT

The design concept of the master plan was to emphasize on preserving existing environment as much as possible. To take best advantage of the surroundings, our design had achieved one of the goal in site planning that to locate all guest rooms and hotel buildings onto the site with least interfering with the present of the existing trees, which were very valuable to the project overall atmosphere.

LANDSCAPE CONCEPTUAL DESIGN

The arrival area is on the high side of the site. Guest would then walks across the area on the board walk high above ground to the reception area at the lobby which are located at the same level as the top of the trees crown. A main axis of visual and pedestrian corridor were aimed towards the cluster islands in the bay thus guest could impress with this magnificent view of the site. The main open area in the site that has less trees were designated as the resort main swimming pool area that form as open space and view for the guest rooms that does not have sea view.
